Elizabeth Harz Named CEO of Sittercity

May 10, 2017

CHICAGO, May 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Sittercity, the pioneer of tech-enabled child care, today announces the appointment of Elizabeth Harz as Chief Executive Officer and Sandra Dainora as the new Senior Vice President of Product. The appointment of Ms. Harz and Ms. Dainora, both seasoned consumer technology leaders, signals a new phase of growth and innovation at Sittercity.

As millions of Millennials become the first “digital native” parents, Harz will accelerate the success of the Sittercity platform — with a particular emphasis on Chime, its new on-demand babysitting service, fast becoming a “go-to” for both parents and caregivers in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Boston.

Prior to joining Sittercity, Harz held leadership positions with consumer and B2B brands including Yahoo!, Electronic Arts, Chegg and CNET. Having led Silicon Valley-based startups and global businesses through periods of tremendous growth, Harz is navigating an ambitious course for Sittercity, fulfilling the company’s mission to make child care finally work, by improving the way today’s tech-savvy parents find and manage their trusted caregivers.

As a working mother of two, Harz experiences first-hand the challenges parents face when it comes to child care. “I am honored to be leading the company that invented tech-enabled child care,” she says. “It’s an exciting time to be here. The combination of demographic trends and comfort with on-demand marketplaces allows for radical simplification of the way parents and caregivers interact. Already more than one million digital natives are becoming parents every year, and this number will only grow. So we see an opportunity to lead the next wave of innovation in the category we established.”

Harz’s first hire is Sandra Dainora who will lead the product team as the Senior Vice President of Product. Prior to joining Sittercity, Dainora was the Senior Director of Product at Grubhub and has held positions at OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Harpo Productions, Metromix, Discover Financial Services and A&E Television Networks. Dainora will oversee product strategy for both Sittercity and Chime.

Sittercity launched in 2001 as the first national technology platform for finding trusted child care. It is also the first company to develop an employer-sponsored digital child care solution for large corporations and organizations. Chime, Sittercity’s on-demand babysitting service and newest innovation, gives parents and sitters the ability to connect, book and transact with the tap of a button. The Chime team does the legwork — from running background screens and checking references to meeting every candidate. Parents can simply use the Chime website or iPhone app to review video profiles and connect instantly with their best match. The service then allows them to build a bench of their favorite sitters, see calendars in one place and re-book instantly whenever they need care. And for top sitters, Chime provides a platform to grow their client base while working when — and as often as — they want.
