In G2’s nearly 11-year journey, we’ve experienced significant growth and some momentous milestones along the way. We’ve achieved 2 million trusted reviews, surpassed 3,000 customers, secured $257M in funding,and have been valued at $1.1B. As we map to our next stage of growth, I’m pleased to announce Eric Gilpin has joined G2 as Chief Revenue Officer.
In this role, Eric will oversee all aspects of G2’s revenue generation, including global sales and customer success, enablement, partnerships, and revenue operations. An experienced leader with 20+ years of experience building and scaling large technology businesses, Eric comes to G2 from Upwork, where he oversaw a global team of 400+ and helped lead the company to a successful IPO in 2018 (NASDAQ:UPWK) where the business scaled to north of $600 million in annual revenue in 2022 while serving 50% of the Fortune 500.
Prior to his tenure at Upwork, Eric held a number of leadership roles at CareerBuilder, most recently as President of Vertical Sales. As a member of the Senior Leadership team at G2, he will lean into his experience leading large, global go-to-market teams to drive durable growth and market expansion while ensuring customer value.
Eric joins G2 at an ideal time, where we’re uniquely positioned to power software buying and selling in the age of AI. The rise of AI, paired with today’s economy, means selling software is getting harder. Software companies must move faster to keep up with buyer expectations. As we look to support our customers in this new landscape, Eric has the ideal experience to help guide G2 to our next peak.
Eager to get started, Eric shared his thoughts on joining the team, noting: “I have spent most of my career building two-sided marketplaces and have seen firsthand the flywheel effects they create for their customers. Beyond his role at G2, Eric also serves as a limited partner at the GTMfund investor network as well as an advisory board member at Sales Assembly. He’s been recognized as one of the Industry’s top “40 under 40” by Staffing Industry Analysts in both 2017 and 2018 and as a Top 100 Global Sales Leaders in 2020 by The Modern Sale. Based in Chicago, Eric has a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business.
